MADE GROUP // Tokyo Sales Conference
As a celebration of their 10th year, and record growth, Made Group deserved a conference and incentive program that was out of the box. Allocated only 48 hours on the ground, the challenge to push the boundaries and get maximum involvement was one that RUSH events accepted with vigour.
Flying over night, the group of 35 arrived in Tokyo on Friday morning and were transferred to the Intercontinental, then whisked away to a traditional Sumo House for lunch. Greeting us after lunch, where two ex-professional Sumo wrestlers who took us through the techniques of Sumo; before splitting the group into a male and female repechage for our own Made Group Sumo championship. Complete with Sumo fat suits, the competition was high and hilarious. After our winners were crowned, the group was ushered a short stroll to watch the real deal at the Grand Sumo Tournament Stadium. Dinner followed in one of Tokyo’s premier Teppanyaki restaurants, Mon Cher Ton Ton.
The next morning a half day conference session wrapped up the year that was, followed by a smorgasbord lunch at the top of the Intercontinental. To reignite the friendly competition, the group was split into teams for an amazing race style adventure across Tokyo. Complete with maps written in Japanese and selfie sticks, the final destination was a hidden Sake Bar; where teams competed in a Japanese delicacy and Sake tasting challenge. With the final night upon us, it would be remiss if we didn’t include Karaoke as the last team challenge – aboard a private boat, inclusive of dinner, teams revelled in the limelight that was the Made Group version of Aussie Idol. Once back on shore, it was time to let the group loose and to their own devices at one (or two) of Tokyo’s finest bars. Departing the following morning, this was a whirlwind adventure that no one will forget! See our cheeky little go-pro clip below.
